News, Notes & Observations from Media Day

Boston College football held its annual media day this past Friday and things went off without a hitch as usual. From the size of a couple of the incoming freshmen to senior captain Josh Beekman, here's some news, notes and observations from Media Day.


-- Beekman has the thickest legs I've seen in a long time. At the start of practice he was practicing snapping center, just for fun it seemed, and he was having no problem but you can see by the thickness of his thighs it could be an issue. Every time I looked at Beekman I laughed to myself a bit thinking of the number of defensive lineman he is going to destroy this year. He's 6-foot-1 tops which hurts his pro potential, but he'll be one of the best linemen in American this year.


-- BC is deep enough at defensive tackle which is good because incoming freshman Thomas Claiborne is nowhere near ready to play. Claiborne looked around 350 pounds and need to drop some serious weight. Fellow incoming defensive tackle Damik Scafe looked like he was in excellent shape.
