Virginia already working hard with class of 2008

The Virginia basketball staff is looking to sign a stellar 2007 recruiting class, but that has not stopped the Cavaliers from focusing plenty of attention on the class of 2008. And UVa is well-positioned early for some outstanding young players, especially on the perimeter. CavsCorner has already featured Andre Jones and Elliott Williams in recent weeks. Now we'll tell you about another player who is an emerging priority for 2008.

Virginia is among many schools taking a long look at Sylvan Landesberg, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound shooting guard from Holy Cross High School in Queens, N.Y., the same high school that produced former UVa player Willie Dersch.

"I've never met Willie, but I know who he is," Landesberg said. "He has all the records at Holy Cross."

Truth be told, classifying Landesberg as just a shooting guard might not do his versatility justice, as the rising junior can also play the point guard or small forward positions as well.
