Jerryd Bayless to visit UW?
Jerryd Bayless, the No. 9 overall player on the Rivals 150 for the class of 2007 has been somewhat avoiding the press, since his well publicized and somewhat criticized de-commitment from the Arizona Wildcats. Having made a commitment early in his junior year of high school at St. Mary's High in Phoenix, it was probably too early for Bayless to really be sure that he made the right decision to attend the top Division 1 program in his home state, down the road in Tucson.
There has been a great deal of speculation on message boards and on the rumor mill that Texas Longhorns coach Rick Barnes has swayed the rising junior, while still committed to coach Lute Olson, to instead head to Austin for his career as a D1 basketball player, however long or short it may turn out to be.
Husky Digest has learned from an excellent source close to the Washington program that Bayless "will visit UW", some time after attending the Under 18 National team camp and possibly competing on that team, should he make the cut. The U-18 team will be coached by Washington head man Lorenzo Romar and to our knowledge it has greatly opened up opportunities for Romar and a number of interested high level recruits to get a chance to get to know one another's style and personalities, which in our opinion here at Husky Digest, can only help Washington's recruiting clout in the 2007 and 2008 classes and beyond.
