BC and others offer VA end Jackson

Richmond, Va., Varina defensive end Jamar Jackson has exploded on the recruiting scene in the last month. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder is up to seven offers including one from Boston College.

"He now has offers from Ball State, Temple, Syracuse, Duke, East Carolina, North Carolina State and Boston College," Varina coach Blanda Wolfe said. "Since he's been done with basketball he has hit the weight room hard and gotten much stronger. He also did very well at the Penn State Nike Camp and I think teams are starting to realize he is legit."

At the moment Wolfe doesn't think Jackson has a favorite, but he is looking hard at Boston College.

"He hasn't really said anything about favorites yet because he hasn't visited a lot of places," he said. "I know he is impressed by Boston College because he knows they are a good school academically and he's a good student, so he likes the opportunity to get a good degree. I know right now he still doesn't know a lot about them, but he's reading up and is hoping to make a visit up there this summer."
