Spring Grades: CBs will close out the spring by taking a look at each of the positions on the Sooner football team over the next two weeks. With Brian Jackson and Marcus Walker missing spring practices due to injuries, the cornerback position looked to be in dire need of capable bodies. Bobby Jack Wright was going to try Reggie Smith at corner to see how it went and Lendy Holmes had asked to be moved over to defense to see how he could perform.

In fact, D.J. Wolfe appeared to be the only known quantity heading into the spring. If Smith didn't work out, the Sooners were going to have to rely on an incoming group of true freshman to provide solid players next season.

What a difference 15 practices made for the cornerback position and the Sooner defense. Reggie Smith appears to be a star in the making and Holmes took to a defensive back position like a fish takes to water. D.J. Wolfe continued to show he's a special talent after starting every game at the position a year ago.

Marcus Walker and Brian Jackson's absences were the only negatives of the spring at the cornerback position. Walker is still a special talent who had his choice of destination coming out of high school. He could still become a special player at Oklahoma.

Jackson is also a player coaches speak very highly of. A torn meniscus sidelined Jackson, but he's expected to be back at full strength this fall.
