Davis sets a date

Luther Davis of West Monroe, La., is a man with a plan.


The 6-foot-3, 254-pound defensive tackle isn't leaving anything in his recruitment up to chance.


After recording 88 tackles and eight sacks as a junior for one of the nation's top-ranked teams, Davis has garnered the attention of some of the nation's elite college programs.


With the help of a family member and former West Monroe football standout, Davis won't take for granted any of the attention he is receiving.


"My brother Lucas Jackson helps me out," Davis said. "He signed with Arkansas in 2002. He's been through this, so he knows what to look for. Whatever schools I'm looking at, he helps me learn about them by checking out the depth chart and who else they're recruiting, among other things."
