Georgia end racking up offers
D.J. Stafford looks to be the next hot prospect out of LaGrange (Ga.) High. The Grangers have been one of the most successful programs in Georgia in the last decade and they have sent guys like linebacker Tray Blackmon to Auburn and quarterback Braxton Kelly to Kentucky.
This year, Stafford could be one of the top defensive linemen in the state of Georgia and he just added offer number six to his list.
"Arkansas offered me on Monday," Stafford said. "They are the sixth team to offer me. I have offers from them, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, Clemson, and Kentucky."
The Arkansas offer is new, but Stafford's list remains the same.
"I still like Auburn and Georgia the most," he said. "I am open to all the other schools, but those are my top two."
The Tigers and Bulldogs have been on top for a while, but he is no closer to making a decision.
"I am still exploring all of my options and looking around," said Stafford. "I am not going to make my commitment anytime soon."
This 6-foot-3, 263-pound defensive lineman expects to see a lot of coaches over the next three and a half weeks.
"Auburn has already visited me," he said. "Coach Tommy Tubberville, Coach Terry Price, and Coach Hugh Nall came through last Thursday. I know Alabama, South Carolina, and a lot of other schools are coming to see me this week. (LaGrange head) coach (Steve) Pardue said over forty schools are coming to come by."
Most of these coaches will get a chance to see Stafford during spring practice.
"We start on Wednesday (May 3) and I really want to help the younger guys get some experience. We have some young guys moving up and I am to try and get them ready, so we can regroup and win."
Stafford had 119 tackles and 11 sacks his junior season.
