Spring Vegas wrap

There was plenty of AAU basketball action on the final day of the Double Pump High School Boys Spring Basketball Classic and the Vision Sports Las Vegas Spring Showcase.

BearTerritory caught up with numerous players, including Arizona Stars power forward and Cal commitment Harper Kamp.

Before we get to Kamp though, our day started out watching Modesto Slam N Jam 2009 prospect Reeves Nelson.

After playing his freshman season this year at Modesto Christian on varsity, Nelson could rise to the top in the 2009 class in Northern California. Currently 6-foot-6, 210-pounds, Nelson should grow to 6-foot-10 easy. He has size 18 shoes to prove that. Nelson can already score in the post fluidly and has a nice face up shot. He also drives to the rim and has an assortment of scoring moves.

After playing well on Saturday for Modesto Slam N Jam head coach Gary Porter, who also coaches him at "MC", Nelson looked a bit tired on Sunday. However, he should be one of the top players in Northern California next season despite being just a sophomore. As he learns to get up and down the court with the Crusaders, Nelson has a chance to be special.
