Texas QB has eyes on the Tide
The saying goes that everything in Texas is bigger and better and anyone who has seen Texarkana quarterback Ryan Mallett in action would have to give some form of credibility to that cliché. The 6-foot-7, 235-pound Mallet is one of the nations most sought after signal-callers and he recently picked up an offer from Alabama.
"Monday Coach (Mike) Shula texted me and asked that I call him and when I did he told me I had an offer from Alabama. We talked for a while and it went great. He said he was putting my written offer in the mail that day," Mallett said. "I was already interested in Alabama so the offer made the visit I'm going to take there this summer that much more exciting. I'm planning on going there in June to check out the campus and meet the coaches face-to-face so the offer really moved them up for me.
"The thing I really like about Coach Shula is that he took on a job that a lot of other coaches wouldn't have wanted. It was a tough situation at Alabama when he got there but he turned the team around and is building a good program. I admire that about him. He also runs an offense that I believe I would into well. That's very important for me."
