The final workout

he Nebraska football team put in the finishing touches for Saturday's Red-White game Thursday morning, with a 5:45 a.m. helmets only workout inside Memorial Stadium.

For most of NU's coaches, seeing 58,000 people at a spring game will be nothing new, but first-year tight ends coach Shawn Watson is definitely looking forward to the experience.

"It will be a lot of fun, Watson said. "I've heard about it and I can't wait to experience it. For our recruiting, it's obviously showcases what Nebraska football is all about and the passion and excitement the people have for it."

Watson also serves as Nebraska's recruiting coordinator and he said he can't put into words how much the spring game will do for recruiting.

Of the 80 recruits expected to be in Lincoln, Waston said seven to eight of them will be players that already have scholarship offers from the Huskers.

"58,000 people…if you're a recruit and you show up and see that, you know how important football is," Watson said. "It's obvious that you want to play in a place that it's that important.

"I love what our fans our doing for us. That is so huge for our recruiting, because no one else in the country can say that."
