Scouting Report: AU's 2006 basketball signees
The first day of the spring signing period will be a busy one for the Auburn basketball team as head coach Jeff Lebo expects to signs two high school standouts and a high-scoring junior college guard.
The Tigers are expecting National Letters of Intent on Wednesday from Houston Wheatley point guard Dewayne Reed, Tallahassee, Fla., Community College shooting guard Archie Miaway and Douglasville, Ga., Chapel Hill forward Matt Heramb.
Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer is especially impressed with the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Reed who had a big senior season averaging 22 points per game and leading Wheatley to a 31-4 record.
"I know Reed had an outstanding senior season," said Meyer. "Our people in Texas have great things to say about him. He's going to crack our Rivals 150 when we update it."
The 6-foot-4, 202-pound Miaway led TCC to a 31-4 record and the finals of the NJCAA D-I Tournament averaging approximately 15.5 points, six rebounds and three assists per game.
"Miaway will solidify the off-guard position for Auburn next season," said Meyer. "Not only can he score but he also has experience playing top-level competition in big games."
