Alex Jacobson joins elite AAU team

You can learn a lot about a highly rated basketball player by the AAU team he chooses to run with. There are kids that want to be the feature player on a team that doesn't have much talent and then there are those who want to be surrounded by as many good teammates as possible.

UA commit Alex Jacobson is making a big sacrifice in order to win and improve his game while doing so. Several West Coast AAU teams would love to have a 7-footer like Jacobson and he could have chosen to play for just about anyone.

However, instead of playing for a squad that would feature him in the offense, the Mater Dei High School star is going to play on a team that - if they were to all stay together - would compete for a national championship by the time they were all juniors in college.

Jacobson has elected to play for the SoCal All-Stars, an AAU team that could be the best in the country. As good as the All-Stars were last year when they had Chase Budinger, this group could be even better.
