Mississippi State will step foot on its home court one final time this year closing out the regular season with a 4 p.m. contest against Auburn.
It will also be the final appearance for the Bulldogs lone senior, walk-on guard Baxter Price. Price will be honored during a pregame ceremony for his 43 career games and two points over his four year career in Starkville.
Today's matchup will decide who finishes last in the Southeastern Conference this season as both teams enter with a 3-14 record inside the league.
MSU has won 11 of the last 12 meetings in Humphrey Coliseum and leads the series in Starkville 40-25. The Tigers however lead the overall series 72-65. Both teams split the series last year and have not squared off this season.
The Bulldogs claimed a 91-88 victory inside "The Hump" last season before Auburn returned the favor on the plains with a 65-55 win. Arnett Moultrie paced State in both of those games with 21 points at home and a double-double of 16 points and 11 points at Auburn.
Mississippi State is 8-21 overall this season and are coming off a 79-72 setback at South Carolina on Wednesday. The Bulldogs battled back from a 22-point deficit in the second half but could not finish the job. Freshman combo guard Craig Sword scored 20 points and junior Jalen Steele added 17 points before tearing his ACL and is out for the remainder of the season.
