Improving by leaps and Bounds
E.J. Bounds has been a name known around North Mississippi for a while now.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder has been the starting quarterback for Water Valley for the past three years and has led the Blue Devils to double digit wins in each of those seasons.
"Everything is going great," Bounds said. "I won offensive player of the year and it just seems like I keep progressing and getting better every year."
Bounds led Water Valley to a 10-3 record last fall and into the second round of the Class 3A State Playoffs. He amassed 1,555 yards of offense and 23 touchdowns as a junior despite missing three games with a spained ankle.
"I feel like we did really good," Bounds said. "I felt like we got better as a team throwing the ball, catching and running the ball. The thing that hurt me was I missed three games so that affected things on my behalf but the team still did good and won games. I just think if I didn't miss those three games then I would have had a lot better season stats-wise."
Bounds completed 46-of-93 passing for 819 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions while also rushing 123 times for 736 yards and 12 more scores.
