LSU preview

Entering February, Mississippi State has already been through a grueling schedule.

The Bulldogs have won just seven games all season and have lost five straight including the last three outings inside Humphrey Coliseum. MSU hopes to end that negative trend this afternoon hosting LSU at 4:30 p.m.

It is the worst such stretch since 2005-06 when the Bulldogs dropped seven straight and three consecutive in "The Hump". That season State finished 15-15 and 5-11 in conference play. So far Rick Ray's squad is 2-5 in league action and 7-12 overall.

LSU has the overall lead in the series 105-97, the second oldest rivalry on the hardwood for the Bulldogs. Mississippi State has claimed nine of the last 13 meetings in the series and split last year's contests. The Bulldogs holds a 58-37 advantage in games played in Starkville.

MSU won the initial meeting last year at home 76-71 behind a 28 point, 12 rebound performance from Arnett Moultrie. It took overtime to decide the matchup in Baton Rouge as LSU got 17 points from Ralston Turner to claim a 69-67 victory. Dee Bost led all Bulldogs in that second meeting with 15 points.
