Troy preview

Mississippi State will tipoff its 101st season of men's basketball tonight at 7 p.m. against Troy.

Tonight will also be the official debut of the Bulldogs new head coach Rick Ray as he tries to spoil the opening of the newly built $31 million Trojan Arena.

It is the first time MSU has started the season away from Humphrey Coliseum since 2004. The Bullldogs have not had a true road game since an overtime loss to California in 2001 and are 7-13 in true road game openers.

State is 78-22 in the first game of the season all-time and have won 22 of their last 27.

The Bulldogs have never lost to Troy and hold a 9-0 edge in the series. Mississippi State has won those contests by an average of 24.6 points.
