Wake pursues two-sport athlete
Wake Forest is among 15 schools Anderson (SC) T.L. Hanna inside linebacker Ben Boulware claims a scholarship offer from.
"I had South Florida last year for a while, then I had Stanford and then it went cold for a little bit and it started picking up around a month ago," Boulware said.
Boulware, who is also a catcher on Hanna's baseball team is being recruited by Lonnie Galloway for the Demon Deacons.
"We talk a good bit through Facebook," Boulware said.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder is working with Galloway to schedule a trip to Winston-Salem.
"I've got spring break in like a couple of weeks, so I've got to go down to the beach for a baseball tournament," Boulware said. "It's not really a spring break for me. I've got baseball every day."
Boulware attended Junior Day events at Georgia and South Carolina, and will go to Alabama's on March 17 and Notre Dame's on March 24.
The schools recruiting Boulware want him to focus on football, but he thinks most of them would let him play baseball too.
"I probably like football a little more," Boulware said. "I guess I'm getting a little more attention with football, but I love baseball too."
He recorded 178 tackles and four sacks last season, and 151 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, four interceptions, four fumble recoveries and a sack as a sophomore.
"A lot of people are saying I'm like an old-school linebacker," Boulware said. "I like to hit people. I play downhill. I just love the game."
