Bulldogs blowout Arkansas on senior day
STARKVILLE, Miss., - Mississippi State began the SEC season with a 10-point loss at Arkansas back in January.
Saturday afternoon was a stark contrast from that game as the Bulldogs routed the Razorbacks 79-59 at Humphrey Coliseum to close out the regular season.
"I thought we played extremely well together," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury . "We shared that basketball and I thoughts we took care of the basketball. Pressure was no factor against us. We had 17 assists and six turnovers. I thought defensively we limited them to four fast break points for the game and that's where they are at their best."
MSU (21-10, 8-8) threw down 11 dunks on the day - most of which were the alley oop variety - as they finished 41.1-percent from the field. At the five minute mark, the Bulldogs were up by 29 points before checking in their reserves.
"It doesn't always that way," Stansbury said. "Tonight it went that way. We made the right reads. I thought our team was the most energetic team on the court and played with the most energy. We were very aggressive when we needed to be offensively but at the same time I thought we played with a lot of poise."
Arnett Moultrie led the Bulldogs with his 17th double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Moultrie was 7-of-9 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.
