Cunningham talking Razorbacks

Mississippi State concluded the non-conference portion of its slate at 13-2 and ranked 15th in the country.

Now the Bulldogs will take their show into the Southeastern Conference entering league play on the road Saturday at Arkansas.

"We've got a difficult conference opener at Arkansas Saturday night," said MSU head coach Phil Cunningham. "They are playing real well and on a good winning streak. It's always one of the toughest environments to play in, in the league. It'll be interesting to see how our guys respond. It's our second true road game but we didn't have that same type of atmosphere in Detroit that we're going to face Saturday night.

The Razorbacks are also off to a strong start under new head coach Mike Anderson. Arkansas is 11-3 and have won six straight heading into Saturday's SEC opener. The Hogs are averaging 76.9 points and shooting 43.5-percent from the field.

"The number one thing that stands out about Arkansas is they are just so unique in how they play," Cunningham said. "We haven't played anybody this year who has played that way. They are going to try to cause so many turnovers - particularly in the backcourt. Fortunately for us we've got a week to prepare for them so that'll be to our advantage.
