Moultrie surprises even Stansbury
When Arnett Moultrie transferred to Mississippi State in the summer of 2010 Rick Stansbury knew he was getting a player with a strong work ethic.
But what the 6-foot-11, 249-pounder has been able to do early on in the season has been pretty remarkable. Moultrie is averaging a double-double effort per game and leads the Southeastern Conference in rebounding.
"The thing I saw from him last year was I knew his engine ran," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury. "Does that always translate to the game that engine running? You don't know that for sure. Some guys can do it at 3 o'clock but can't do it when the popcorn is popping. But he's one of those guys who takes it to another level. That I didn't know for sure about him."
Moultrie began to showcase his abilities on the Bulldogs European exhibition tour over the summer leading the team in scoring (16.8) and rebounding (11.2) and recorded four double-doubles.
That trend has continued on into the regular season where Moultrie is scoring 16.7 points and pulling down 11.1 boards while notching four double-doubles in seven games.
