Practice Rewind: Day 11

The hits just keep on coming for the Oregon State depth chart as the Beavers announced this morning that starting cornerback Brandon Hardin has a broken bone in his shoulder that will require surgery to repair.  Hardin is expected to undergo the surgery as soon as Monday and it is unknown how long he will miss. 

He addressed the media after practice and said that he may be back for the Beavers fourth game, in early October against ASU, but that may be too optimistic.  Others said that his career at Oregon State could be finished.

It was a freak play in space, Coach Riley told the media.  Hardin didn't think it was too serious, but an MRI showed the small broken bone.

This news on the heels of senior defensive tackle Kevin Frahm's meniscus tear and the Beaver defense just keeps absorbing bad news.  Injuries are part of football however and Coach Riley said that it is just time for others to step in and continue on.

Probably because of the onslaught of injuries, this morning's session was the shortest practice we've seen as everyone wrapped up before 10:15 today.  Typically the young guys have been spending time after the vets are released, but Riley let everyone go.
