Sooners Get Going in Dallas Area
Through the years Oklahoma has always found relatively unknown gems in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and while it's hard to call Devante Harris with offers from Virginia, Mississippi, Stanford, and SMU unknown it does seem Oklahoma's Spring evaluations have led them to the doorstep of another fast-rising Metroplex talent.
On Wednesday Harris and his Mesquite (Texas) Horn team played host to Sooner assistants Brent Venables and Willie Martinez. The two had talked to Harris a week and a half ago following Oklahoma's Spring game; letting him know that they would be by to evaluate him as well as hoping to get a look at him at the Sooners Summer camp.
Some would have felt the pressure of such a serious scholarship interview but not Harris.
"They just watched me through my whole practice. They watched me in every single drill that I did, footwork, hips, hitting, everything," Harris said. "To a lot of people it may seem like pressure, but I'm confident and I know what I'm doing, it was just business. It was like a dream come true to work out for them."
