JUCO DT headed to NMSU

They say good thing comes to those who wait. NMSU certainly believes in that philosophy as they received a signed commitment from 3-star defensive tackle, Walton Taumoepeau.

Taumoepeau, who stands 6'5" and tips the scales at over 300 pounds, will be in an Aggie football uniform this fall giving his signed commitment to NMSU.

Coming by way of Cerritos Community College in Norwalk, CA, Taumoepeau is listed as one of the top recruits from that program as a 3-star prospect, only one of two 3-star prospects. The only 4-star prospect, Keith McGill appears to be headed to the Utah Utes this fall.

Several schools were in a tight battle for Taumoepeau services. He held an offer from Kansas State and Iowa State and was receiving high interest from the University of Miami and Oregon State as well. Ole Miss had him as a top remaining target in their 2011 NLI day list.

Nicknamed "Takitoa", the San Jose, CA native paid a recruiting visit to Iowa State, but interest appeared to have dwindled as he was looking to sign with a program that could assure him of immediate playing time. "I want a school that I can play at and have a chance to start right away", says Taumoepeau.

A math major and who is also working on a minor in philosophy, is quite an athlete as he not only plays football, but also was a track athlete at Buena Park High School.
