Tennessee preview

Mississippi State is hoping to keep possession of second place in the SEC Western Division following Wednesday night's embarrassing 84-82 loss to LSU.

The Bulldogs have a tough task ahead today at 5 p.m. as they travel to Tennessee's Thompson-Boling Arena, a site where they have not won since 1999.

Tennessee has won seven of the last 10 games between the two schools including five straight in Knoxville. The Volunteers have the series edge 75-39 as the Bulldogs have not won a regular season matchup since 2004. State did knock off Tennessee in the 2009 SEC Tournament Championship game but the Vols claimed a 75-59 win last season in Starkville.

MSU enters today tied with Arkansas in the West with a 6-7 conference record and the Bulldogs are only one game over .500 at 14-13 overall this season.
