Perry picks Mississippi State

Mississippi State picked up another instate commitment on Wednesday morning when Walnut standout Shaquille Perry pledged his services to the Bulldogs after receiving a scholarship ship offer the night before.

The 6-foot-2, 212-pound running back/ linebacker marks the 15th commitment from a Magnolia State program for the 2011 class.

Coach (Scott) Sallach called me yesterday to offer me," Perry said. "So I talked with my mom last night and we discussed it. She was happy for me so I called the coaches this morning and committed. They said they were excited about my decision and the fact I was coming there."

Perry has plenty of family ties to the MSU program including his older brother Edward "Pig" Prather (1998-2001) and cousin Michael Haddix (1979-82). Perry was not even born during Haddix's heyday and only vaguely remembers his brother suiting up.
