San Diego preview

Mississippi State has the opportunity to get the taste of yesterday's 26 point loss to Washington State out of their mouths quickly.

The Bulldogs will take on San Diego at 3:30 p.m. in the consolation game at the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu. The Toreros also lost last night 80-53 to Baylor.

Today will be only the third time MSU has faced San Diego on the hardwood. But it will also be the third straight season the two teams have met. The series is tied 1-1 with the Toreros winning in overtime in Starkville in 2008 and State claiming a 77-68 win in San Diego last year. Kodi Augustus was the Bulldogs second leading scorer in that game with 17 points in only 24 minutes.

Mississippi State is 6-2 all-time against teams from the West Coast Conference.

The Bulldogs are 7-4 coming into this afternoon's contest following back-to-back games by over 20-points. No MSU team has lost three consecutive non-conference games under Rick Stansbury's watch.
