Bucs drop State late, 63-62

STARKVILLE, Miss., - Once again the script for Mississippi State's basketball game came down to the wire as it has in each contest this season.

And for the second consecutive time the Bulldogs have come up short when the final buzzer sounded. An East Tennessee State layup in the waning moments of the game was enough as MSU fell 63-62 Saturday night.

"With our team again there is just no margin for error," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury. "One possession, one play is the difference in winning with this bunch. There is just not much to play with."

The Bulldogs had a chance to answer Micah Williams' layup calling a timeout with 10-seconds remaining. State got the ball down low to Kodi Augustus under the basket but his shot was contested by two Buccaneer defenders and rattled off the rim at the buzzer.

"I thought I got whacked," Augustus said. "But they didn't call it so it's a tough loss and it hurt."

MSU went the final 5:26 of the game without a field goal.
