Seminoles rising for OL Matias

Union City, New Jersey four-star offensive tackle Josue Matias has been shuffling his list around recently.

Until recently Georgia and Florida were seen as two of the major contenders for the 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect, but now both SEC schools have been eliminated from consideration.

Matias has taken official visits to North Carolina and Wisconsin, and he gave each trip a good review. He has an official visit to Rutgers scheduled for January 21, and now he has a fourth official visit scheduled.

"I'm still going to visit South Carolina and Florida State," Matias said.

"I'm going to Florida State on December 17. They had been recruiting me but I had so many offers I guess it slipped through the cracks. They just started talking to me more and I set up an official.

"Coach (James) Coley came by today. I felt good about it. It seems like he's a cool guy. I used to see Florida State play when I was younger so I know a little bit about them. They seem like a stable program where the coaches aren't going anywhere."

Of course, that's at the front of Matias' mind because of the developments at Florida today. Since Urban Meyer will no longer be in Gainesville after this season, Matias is no longer considering the Gators.

"It was like, 'Wow,' when I heard it. I was surprised. I've cut them out already," he said.

Though he has not set an official visit to South Carolina, Matias said that is definitely a trip he will be making.
