WR Tyriq Patrick hearing from CMU

Following a disappointing loss to Franklin County High School in the second round of the state playoffs last year, wide receiver Tyriq Patrick vowed to be more focused and determined in the 2010 campaign. With a victory over Kemper Country High School last week, Patrick and the Tornadoes pushed their record to 4-0 in league competition and 10-0 overall; moving one step closer in route to a deep playoff run.

"We have only given up 63 points on defense all season. We are playing well together, have a 5-headed monster and a quarterback that is making plays".

Central is looking for explosive playmakers that can stretch the defense and Patrick fits the description. Patrick is a versatile wide receiver prospect that stands 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, and runs the forty yard dash in a blistering 4.49 seconds. Through ten games he has accumulated 34 receptions totaling 423 yards, (12.4 yards per catch) and 8 touchdowns. Patrick, who is being recruited both as an outside receiver and slot receiver expands on some of the strengths to his game.

"I am good at creating separation from the defensive backs, I'm bigger, and very physical."

Patrick's big-game ability and speed have allowed him to garner offers from schools including: UAB, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, and Arkansas State. Another school showing Patrick increased interest is Central Michigan, and Tyriq shared his thoughts on the Chippewa's.

"I talk to Coach (Jay) Johnson sometimes and family around there," added Patrick. "I'm interested, but haven't heard from them much lately. I am looking for a good game day atmosphere, good surrounding, and a winning program".

Tyriq is taking his recruitment slowly and will not come out with a list of top schools until after the season. He will take some official visits following the completion of the season and Chippewa fans will have to wait late in the winter for Patrick's decision
