Davis taking his time this fall
Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson wide receiver Andre Davis has slow-played his recruitment to this point. With a visit to South Florida behind him, and no others scheduled in the foreseeable future, it looks like Davis will be waiting until after his season is over to make official visits elsewhere. Right now, Texas Tech is in good standing as one of the programs to likely be on his list.
"I feel really good about them. I like the relationship I have with Coach Chad Scott. We talk a lot and he's a really cool guy. We get along great," Davis said. "They're still in the top seven that I've given out before. I'm liking them a lot. I'm probably going to take one of my officials there."
The aforementioned top seven is still intact for Davis. The list includes Florida State, Kansas, Miami, Rutgers, South Florida, Texas Tech, and West Virginia. Five of those will receive an official visit from the 2011 prospect, but it looks as though none of them will happen until closer to the end of the year.
"I'm probably going to take all five of my visits, but I'm wanting to wait until after the season is over to do it," he said. "Some schools have wanted me to come during a game weekend, and some have encouraged me to wait until after the year is over so that we can have more one-on-one time. That tells me something itself. I'm excited about my options, but I'm going to wait a little longer before deciding which schools I'm going to go see."
Davis reaffirmed the thought that Texas Tech will more than likely be one of the five programs the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder travels to see. "They've got a lot to offer so I definitely want to get out there and see it all up close. See what they're really all about. I've enjoyed visiting with Coach Scott so far and have liked what I've learned about them up to now. I will probably include them in my official visits."
As with his official visit plans, Davis also intends to take his time when it comes to making a decision.
"It's going to be a little while. I don't want to say that I'm waiting until a specific date, but it will probably be after the season," he said. "I want to keep weighing my options and I will definitely have to take a couple of officials before I get close to deciding. I'm anxious to get it over with, but I know I've got to take my time and make the right choice."
Aside from those in his top seven, Davis also holds offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, FIU, Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Memphis, North Carolina, Purdue, UCF, and Western Kentucky.
