Evans has the Bulldogs on top

Early on in the recruiting process, Morton, Miss., defensive tackle prospect Quay Evans gave his commitment to Ole Miss as a sophomore.

But now back on the market it appears that the Rebels instate rival have emerged as the favorite for this 2012 standout.

"Mississippi State is my favorite," Evans said. "Then I've got Ole Miss who is still hanging on in there. I've still got love for them and Alabama."

What seems to have given the Bulldogs the upper hand is the addition of co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Chris Wilson. Wilson joined MSU's staff in the offseason after serving as Oklahoma's defensive line coach since 2005.

"Coach Chris Wilson is probably the best coach that I have ever met in my life," Evans said. "He's just a wonderful guy. He has that type of personality that I am looking for when I go visit a college. I don't know if it's just God who blessed him to be in my life but I'm really liking this dude man. I really like him a lot."

Evans had the opportunity to work one-on-one with Wilson twice this summer coming to camps at State in June and July.
