Game Up Close: UCLA at K-State

No FCS tune-up games here. When Kansas State opens its season inside Bill Snyder Family Stadium at 2:30 on Saturday, nobody will be wondering what the opposing mascot is or to what conference the visiting squad belongs. The room for error will be marginalized when UCLA, a BCS-level squad that handed K-State a loss in 2009, takes the field in Manhattan this weekend, and everyone involved is familiar with the stakes. Whether or not head coach Bill Snyder's squad has what it takes to come sprinting out of the gates is yet to be seen, but, whatever the case, game No. 1 will do wonders to set the pace for the season.
