Tupelo DT thankful to be in his position

After an injury plagued junior season ]P.J. Jones was unsure what his future held in terms of football.

But things have worked out quite well for the three-star defensive tackle from Tupelo, Miss. Jones holds offers from nine schools from across the country and is grateful to be in the position that he is.

"I just have to thank God that he blessed me with the ability to have this chance," Jones said. "Most kids don't have that. I'm going to go to college for free and be able to do what I love to do. I just have to give thanks to God first and foremost."

The 6-foot-2, 252-pounder hopes that his path in football continues on past college and one day fulfills his childhood dream of playing in the NFL.

"When I first started playing football when I was little I'd watch the NFL and wonder how I was going to get there," Jones said. "I don't know if I'm going to make it but I've always said I was going to take it as far as I can. So far I've been working my butt off and it's going pretty good. I really am shocked with the position that I'm in right now. It's still exciting to have that ahead of me."

Jones has picked up scholarships from Alabama, Alcorn State, Arkansas, Memphis, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Tennessee and UCLA. While he does not have any one particular favorite there are several schools that stand out to him.
