Anderson Could be Shipp's Next Great One

Something almost unanimous among the nation's best recruiters is the ability to read a recruit on the fly and know the proper way to handle their pursuit of said prize target.

Almost undoubtedly when talking about the nation's elite recruiters Jackie Shipp's name would have to come up so it shouldn't surprise anyone that when Cibolo (Texas) Steele star defensive tackle Marquis Anderson talked about his Thursday commitment to Oklahoma that one of the first things he talked about was his time spent with Shipp.

Shipp has previously landed nationally elite defensive tackles like Tommie Harris, Gerald McCoy, Jamarkus McFarland, and several others, and according to Anderson his confidence in what the Sooners had to offer Anderson as a player and student may have been the difference.

"Coach Shipp really never pressured me, he was just being real with me every time I saw him, he never really pressured me to commit," Anderson explained. "That's one of the things I liked, he wasn't going to win me over with pressuring me, that's one of the things I like the most how cool he was."
