Stevenson Finds Just the Right Fit

Just a few short weeks ago Klein (Texas) Oak tight end Max Stevenson was holding offers from the likes of Texas Tech, LSU, Notre Dame, Missouri, California, and countless others. It's hard to think the 6-foot-6, 227-pound pass-catcher could have hoped for much more but then he got word that Oklahoma was taking a more serious interest in him.

He then took a trip to Norman to see what the Sooners had to offer before eventually picking up a scholarship from Bob Stoops while sitting in the Sooner head man's office. After leaving Stevenson had his moment of knowing exactly where he wanted to go, apparently at the same time as his traveling partner.

"There was just that moment. It was in Norman after I had spoke with coach Stoops and he had offered me and after all that. Me and my dad walked out of his office and basically back out to our car," Stevenson said. "I just turned to my dad and was like 'can you believe all this is happening' and he was saying 'you couldn't tell me a year ago that things would end up like this'. It wasn't going to get better and we knew where we wanted to be."

His family's sincere excitement over his commitment may come as a surprise to many who have known them through the years.
