V-Cast: Comp, PK, Beard on end of the Final Four run

INDIANAPOLIS - Michigan State's Final Four run came to a halt on Saturday in a 52-50 national semifinal against Butler.

Injured Michigan State junior Kalin Lucas, who traveled to Indianapolis from Detroit with family on Saturday morning, watched from the bench as his team battled foul trouble and a tough Butler defense in a losing effort.

Afterward Lucas was asked about his NBA future and whether he was still contemplating a jump to the league prior to his senior year at Michigan State. Given his injury, Lucas would likely go undrafted. Lucas said he would weigh all of his options, but all indications are that he is coming back.

Questions as to the NBA future of Lucas' childhood friend Durrell Summers began cropping up during post game interviews. And that talk made its way into a SpartanMag.com V-Cast featuring staffers Jim Comparoni, Paul Konyndyk and Rico Beard.

Beard is convinced that Summers will forego his senior season and enter the draft. PK and Comp believe Summers runs the risk of falling to the second round if he declares for the draft and does not show an all-around game at the pre-draft camps.

After talk of the draft, the SpartanMag trio moved into discussion of the foul difficulty that hampered Michigan State's ability to take advantage of Spartan depth in the frontcourt.

Comp, PK and Beard also discussed what MSU might look like next year given an influx of talent and depth after the arrival of recruiting class ranked in the Top 10 nationally.
