Bucks still looking good with NJ lineman

When the Ohio State's offensive line class of 2010 ended up with one commit everybody knew that there would be a special emphasis on the offensive line recruitment for the class of 2011. Succasunna (N.J.) offensive guard Angelo Mangiro already had an offer in hand before signing day 2010 but the interest in the 6-foot-3, 290-pounder has really blown up with major offers coming in including one from the Florida Gators within the last month.

The Garden State is not a usual recruiting ground for the Buckeyes in the past but wide receivers coach Darrell Hazell still has strong ties to one of his old territories and the Buckeyes have targeted Mangiro as a top priority.

Now that Mangiro has had a couple of months to reflect on receiving an Ohio State offer the excitement has not faded and the future college guard still holds that offer very high in his order of schools.

"I was really excited because Ohio State is a big time program," Mangiro said. "Coach Tressel is going to be a hall of fame coach and he has the team always in the top of the nation so I was really pumped."

Mangiro is being looked at either as an offensive guard or center and feels that his physical and aggressive style of play will help him take his game to the next level and beyond.

Offers have come in so far from Maryland, UNC, NC State and Rutgers to go along with the Buckeyes and Gators to name a few.

"It feels really good to know that these elite programs are all so interested in me," Mangiro added.

The Buckeyes have been very upfront with the way that the depth chart is stacking up on the offensive line and that opportunity will be there if he were to choose to Ohio State.

"Coach Hazell told me that they recruit Ohio and the surrounding states and they come to New Jersey and only pick a couple of kids, like two or three that they recruit." Mangiro said. "Knowing that I was one of those kids that they selected was a great feeling and I am very honored to be mentioned on the board like that."

Don't expect any sort of quick decision from Mangiro though. The Buckeyes could be on the verge of several in-state commitments in the coming weeks but this out of state lineman is going to take his time to check everything out before even working toward narrowing a list down.

"It is fair to say I am very interested in Ohio State," Mangiro said. "Once I get through the spring and summer I hope to make a top five and then take my five official (visits) to those schools and then sign closer to signing day."

Will Mangiro have a chance to check out Ohio State in the upcoming months?

"I am planning on visiting Ohio State over my spring break," Mangiro said. "I am talking to coach Hazell about that and they want me to come down and watch some spring ball."

Mangiro said that he will make his trip to Columbus during his spring break and is unsure if that will coincide with Ohio State's spring game.
