Ole Miss preview

Mississippi State limp back into Humphrey Coliseum having lost four of their last five games with all of their losses coming on the road.

The Bulldogs have a chance to get back on track and build back from confidence tonight hosting instate rival Ole Miss at 8 p.m.

MSU won the previous matchup between the Magnolia State schools 80-75 in Oxford back on Jan. 9, which was the conference opener for both. The Bulldogs have won 22 of the last 25 games against Ole Miss at the Hump and are vying for their fourth series sweep in the last seven years.

State holds the series edge at 135-105. The Bulldogs have beaten Ole Miss more than any other school it has faced and likewise the Rebels have lost to Mississippi State more than any other program.

The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back road losses at Vanderbilt and Florida falling to 4-4 in league play and 16-7 overall this season.

MSU is shooting 43.3-percent from the field and are averaging 72.9 points per game. The Bulldogs are ranked third in the Southeastern Conference from the outside knocking down 36.9-percent and making a league-best 8.91 treys a contest. They also lead the conference in most defensive categories including scoring defense (62), field goal percentage defense (37%), blocked shots (8.17), defensive rebounds (29.7) and defensive rebounding percentage (71.2%).
