Army's S&C: Early Winter Performances

With just 11 days remaining before National Signing Day (Wednesday, February 3), Army's football coaches are planning to host another impressive group of official visitors and possible future Black Knights, which started yesterday afternoon and will last into Sunday.

On the other side of the equation, there are the current group of Black Knight players who are participating in the winter strength and conditioning program, with the focus on getting stronger, faster and more explosive for the 2010 season.

Under the watchful eye of S&C Coach, Brett Gerch, the team has yet to get on some of the testing (pro agility and 20yd dash). However, after the 2.5 weeks of training, here are some of the more substantial numbers are:

Kingsley Ehie: Squat 620; pulled off a 35 inch vertical jump (VJ), 10'3" broad jump (BJ) and 21 reps at 225lbs on the bench.

Another fullback who has logged in some impressive numbers is "newcomer" Jared Hassin: His squat was 555 pounds; 32.5 inch VJ, and 19 reps on the 225lbs bench.

Those two players are producing the best numbers for skill positions. Of course the linemen have better bench numbers.

Kingsley Ehie's 620lb squat put him 1st All Time in squat records for running backs, beating out Army rushing record holder, Colin Mooney. Hassin also beat out Mooney's old squat record (which was 550), to place 2nd all time. Kingsley's VJ also places him 2nd All Time in running backs and 1st all time in BJ.

There is much more to come in our S&C coverage and when the team test the pro agility, GoBlackKnights.com will provide updated numbers and by position.
