Nealy ready for official

A week after committing to Georgia Tech, Lakeland (Fla.) linebacker Quayshawn Nealy is merely hours from his first visit to the Yellow Jackets' campus. Nealy will be here over the weekend for an official visit and he is very excited about making the long trek to Atlanta.

"I am leaving at 4 a.m. to head up to Georgia Tech," he said. "I am really excited and looking forward to the visit a lot. I am looking forward to their hospitality and meeting my future teammates," Nealy said. "I have a feeling it will be like home to me. This will be my second home for the four or five years."

One of the things Nealy is most curious about during his visit is bowl practice. Nealy will get a chance to watch the team go through a full practice on Saturday during his visit.

"I am really excited about seeing the practice and seeing how they do things. I am not going to the Orange Bowl because I want to wait to go to one that I am playing in," Nealy said. "It has been really cool that Tech will have played four times in Florida this year."

Some of the current 2010 commitments have reached out to Nealy including defensive tackle Denzel McCoy who will be hanging out with Nealy this weekend during his visit.

"I have been texting Denzel a lot. We text all the time and I am looking forward to meeting him this weekend while I am visiting," Nealy said.

A trio of Tech assistants visited Nealy on Wednesday. Linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary, defensive line coach Giff Smith and cornerbacks coach Charles Kelly paid Nealy a visit at his house.

"Coach B.J. came over to my house yesterday with Coach Smith and Coach Kelly and we all hung out," Nealy said. "It was pretty cool. They gave me directions for the visit and told me they were looking forward to seeing me at Tech for the first time."
