The last time Mississippi State played at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla., the Bulldogs walked off the court SEC Tournament Champions riding a five game winning streak in as many days this past March.
With virtually the same roster returning, MSU hopes to find the same type of success today taking on DePaul as part of the SEC-Big East Challenge tipping off at 5:32 CST.
The Bulldogs will meet DePaul for just the second time in school history. The Blue Demons hold the 1-0 series advantage winning 62-60 at The Sugar Bowl Classic in New Orleans in 1988. State has a 8-13 overall record against teams from the Big East following last season's 75-63 to Cincinnati in SEC-Big East Challenge.
The Bulldogs enter this afternoon's game at 5-2 and riding a two-game winning streak. Mississippi State down St. Bonaventure 105-53 in Starkville on Saturday tying a school a school record with 16 3-pointers. Their 52-point win tied the largest margin of victory by a Rick Stansbury coached squad.
The Bulldogs are shooting 46.2-percent and averaging 76.3 points per game this season. MSU is hitting 41.8-percent from the outside and 71.4-percent from the free throw line. They have outrebounded their opponents by nine as well as dishing out 13.7 assists an outing. Their opposition is shooting 38.7-percent and scoring just 61 points against them.
