Carolina DT would like to visit MSU

Michigan State is having another successful year on the recruiting trail, meeting many of its needs for the future, but defensive tackle is a position that is yet to be filled in 2010, and the Spartans have their eyes on a talented prospect in Tra Thomas of Wadesboro (NC) Anson.

Thursday night, SpartanMag.com caught up with the 6-1, 271-pound Thomas to find out the details of his recruitment in regards to the Spartans.

"Michigan State said they really like me and that I'm one of their top recruits at defensive tackle on their board," said Thomas, who Rivals.com rates a three-star prospect.

"They are saying they could really use me and I could do some good things early for them, things like that. They really want to get me up there (for a visit), and we're trying to get a visit set here soon. There is definitely high interest, and they are definitely a contender for a place I want to take a look at, take a visit to, see how things look and things like that."

According to Thomas, the MSU coaching is impressed with his ability to be a playmaker. As a junior, he recorded 12 tackles for loss.
