Owens makes big jump into Rivals100

LaDarius Owens is one of the state of Alabama's best and most highly recruited prospects.

Now, the Jess Lanier linebacker has the ranking to back that up.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Owens was rated a four-star and a member of the Rivals100 when the updated rankings were released Tuesday.

"I've been working for it my whole life and it's something I'm really proud of," Owens said of the ranking. "The hype and all that stuff doesn't really mean anything once you get to the school and you have to do your work and do what you're supposed to do.

"But it's still exciting to me. I'm blessed and just thank God."

Owens, who was previously unranked, made his debut as the nation's No. 98 overall prospect.

The ranking comes just a couple of days after Owens put on a strong performance at an Auburn camp Saturday where he spent the majority of the afternoon working under AU defensive coordinator Ted Roof and beside AU commitments Jake Holland, Jessel Curry and Jawara White.
