Franklin previews the QB competition

After battling to a draw in the spring, the competition between Kodi Burns and Chris Todd for Auburn's starting quarterback position is back on Saturday with the start of preseason practice.

While it's sure to be the most watched and talked about competition of the fall, AU offensive coordinator Tony Franklin is already confident in both Burns and Todd and hopes to see them pushing each other throughout the season.

"I think we've got two guys competing for the job that can both win a championship," said Franklin. "I think that's a good problem so I'm excited about that position.

"I really hope that the competition stays hot the whole year because they're both good."

While Franklin is not ruling out either Burns or Todd pulling way ahead of the other, it seems more likely they will share the position in some fashion. Burns' running ability along with Todd's passing ability and knowledge of the offense seem to compliment each other well.

Franklin has seen the two-quarterback system work well at other SEC schools.
