Auburn bound athlete at No. 16

Coming in at No. 16 in the RebelSports.Net Top 25 Countdown is a young man that has chosen to leave the Magnolia State to play his college football.

Picayune (MS)'s Drew Cole committed to Auburn in late March, the talented and speedy defensive back decided to be a Tiger on the Plains.

"I'm really excited," Cole said in an earlier interview. I knew I was going to make my decision early in the process, and I had been thinking about it and praying about it, and I feel like Auburn is my home and is the best fit for me."

The 6-foot-0, 180-pound speedster led his high school team last year with 59 tackles, 16 pass break-ups and one interception on defense. He was also a threat with the ball in his hands. Offensively, he rushed 82 times for 601 yards and nine touchdowns.

He was named first team all-state by the MAC/MagnoliaPreps.com as a cornerback.

"I think I am a smart and I always stay in the coverage and know the checks," he commented. "I think I am a good cover corner. I cover really well and I am a pretty good open field tackler."

Cole admits that most schools are recruiting him a defensive back and most likely at the corner position.

"Right now, everyone is telling me corner," Cole, said. "Defense and special teams are something I expect to play."

Cole won't have any problems when it comes to academics. He has already scored a 19 on the ACT last year and has a 4.0 GPA.
