Junior running back ready to run

It didn't take long for Brad Lester to notice something was different in spring practice this year.

Whenever Auburn's running backs get together on the practice field or the meeting room, there's an unusual sound: The sound of silence. With star tailback Kenny Irons and senior Tre Smith gone, there's a sudden lack of chatterboxes in AU's backfield.

"We were like, 'It's a lot quieter out there without Kenny,'" Lester said with a laugh. "Even Tre - Tre was always talking about video games and snowboarding.

"There's kind of a lack of entertainment out there right now."

Lester's not planning to fill the talking void - it's just not his style. But he'll provide plenty of entertainment.

After redshirting and learning from Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown as a true freshman, then biding his time behind Irons for two seasons, the junior is ready to make his mark as a No. 1 tailback.
