Looking at Auburn-Arkansas
AUBURN -- Arkansas has been a mess this season, what with the losses and the finger-pointing and the prototypical crazy uncle as the Razorbacks' de facto figurehead, but Auburn's game this weekend probably won't be easy.
Nothing has been easy so far.
The performance against LSU was worthy of an upgraded forecast. Defensive acuity was at its highest point since the 2010 season and, well, I didn't see much to criticize in terms of matching the Bayou Bengals' physical intensity.
The problem this weekend, if you'll kindly suspend your disbelief, is that Arkansas has in its playbook a spread scheme. It can run four-wide sets with an outstanding lead receiver, Cobi Hamilton, and a talented-yet-struggling quarterback in Tyler Wilson.
(While we're here, check out Wilson's two interceptions from last week's game. The Aggies hide that free safety in the seam and a 23-year-old senior quarterback misses that read like high-school junior.)
