Loeffler trades view for more face time
AUBURN -- Scot Loeffler doesn't want to coach from the sideline.
Yet that's exactly where he expects to be next weekend against Arkansas. The Tigers' offensive coordinator said Thursday that the benefits of talking directly with quarterbacks Kiehl Frazier and Jonathan Wallace are too alluring right now.
"I've got a young quarterback out there that, I think, face-to-face contact is critical right now. And I'm doing that for him," Loeffler said. "Whenever you're watching it from up top, it's slower. You're in a room where you don't feel the noise and you don't hear the noise, but we've got great people up in the press box to give you the information that you need. I think that it's really important to be meeting with Kiehl as a young player."
Assistant coach Curtis Luper moved to the press box last weekend to give Loeffler insight from that sight line. He'll stay there as well.
