Razorbacks rout State

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., - Last season in Starkville it took two overtimes to decide the winner between Mississippi State and Arkansas.

The victor was apparent quite a bit earlier in the rematch at War Memorial Stadium. The Razorbacks scored 30 unanswered points in the middle portion of the contest to claim a 44-17 victory.

"That's probably collectively as bad as we've played I think since I've been the head coach and that falls on my shoulders," said MSU's Dan Mullen. "We need to make sure we have a better performance out there on the field."

The Bulldogs found themselves down 14-10 with just over two minutes remaining before halftime but Arkansas managed to score 10 points over that span. MSU's offense then sputtered through the third quarter without a first down as the Hogs continued to score 10 more points in each of the final two quarters improving to 10-1 on the year and 6-1 in conference play.

"I'm very proud of our team," said Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino. "We did well in preparation and executed well in all three phases of the game tonight. Our defense played extremely well and on offense it was fun to drive the ball down the field."

Arkansas racked up 539 yards offensively including 373 yards through the air and moving the chains 29 times. Tyler Wilson set a school single game completions record hitting on 32-of-43 passing for 365 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
