No. 24 Mississippi State has already reached its win total from a season ago and with one more victory will earn bowl eligibility for the first time since 2007.
Standing in the way today is UAB. The Blazers will once again be looking to spoil MSU's homecoming just as they did in 2004. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
The Bulldogs are 5-2 and riding a four-game winning streak for the first time since 1999 and also have knocked off four consecutive non-conference opponents dating back to last year.
Today will mark just the fourth time the two twin state opponents have met on the gridiron. State holds a 2-1 edge in the series and are 1-1 against the Blazers at Davis Wade Stadium. Mississippi State won the last meeting in 2007 30-13 with 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
